And don't the critics just love it! - Update September 24, 2007
In this world of cynics and scoffers we've stumbled upon the nicest set of critics yet, or perhaps they just recognize sheer genius! See for yourself, and thanks!
"There are plenty of songs on these volumes that capture what made the TVPs one of the greatest bands the UK’s ever produced: pain, bitterness and stricken emotional outpourings mixed with an acute understanding of punk’s venom, inspired interpretations of simplistic 60s pop with psychedelic flourishes and Dan’s faux-naiveté." - Midget Submarines: http://fireescapetalking.blogspot.com/2007/08/midget-submarines.html
"Even the least creatively-inclined listener might well be inspired to write a sonnett or dedicate a few stanzas to this positively inspired collection." - Detour mag: http://detour-mag.com/assets/2007/08/08/various-artists-i-would-write-a-thousand-words-a-tribute-to-the-television-personalities-vol-2-beautiful-music-2007/
"Salem’s smartest decision was to corral artists who once hobnobbed with our artful dodgers."- Stylus Magazine : http://www.stylusmagazine.com/reviews/various-artists/i-would-write-a-thousand-words-a-tribute-to-television-personalities-volume-two.htm
"Part two of a promised ten-part series of Television Personalities covers, this disc features another 20 songs done by fans of the TVPs from all around the world. As there are a large number of diehard devotees out there, it's not too surprising that there are a few repeat bands on this compilation (Paisley Shirts, Nikki Sudden, Mandervilles, No Men - I guess the Bartlebees are spacing themselves out...), and as well, there are a number of repeated songs between the two volumes, with classics like "La Grande Illusion", "Look Back In Anger" and "14th Floor" (among others) being revisited here. But still, this is another loving tribute to the band, with excellent cover versions from Pacific Radio (who have been away too long!), Loch Ness Mouse, BMX Bandits, Legend!, the Shambles and Phil Wilson as well as a Swell Maps song from 1978! I can think of a dozen bands/songs left off of this disc, but there's still plenty of time for them to have their say! MTQ=15/20 " Indie Pages:http://www.indiepages.com/reviews/index.html
"what the hell is going on here, who the hell are the Television Personalities, and does Pearl Jam know about this?" - hip crank / record spins: http://hipcrank.com/recordspins.html#I%20WOULD%20WRITE%20A%20THOUSAND%20WORDS
Thanks so much of your support!
cheers,

Skytone News- Great Reviews, 26,000 Fans, and an Epiphone Casino
Yes, the Doddridge brothers of Skytone have been keeping busy since the release of their debut album "Echoes In All Directions", since that moment, they have been pleased with the response World Wide, they are getting from their album.
"We're not breaking any album sales records" says Darius "but we are selling albums all around the world (one fan at a time) and having a fellow from England e-mail us and tell us he took our album along with him when he went to see the World Cup Soccer game in Germany and listened to it along the way is what its all about for us". "Our music being a part of peoples lives and going places we've never even been ourselves is
"brilliant" as the Brits love to say."
Skytone has had many great reviews which can all be read at their myspace site (editor adds: which is actually starting to cause us some concern as we try to remain firmly buried in the underground) and now have over 26,000 fans there...the word is spreading. http://www.myspace.com/skytonemusic
To round out their obsessed Brit rock/pop sound they have added an Epiphone Casino to their band equipment. The same guitar that the Beatles used throughout their albums and recently Noel Gallagher of Oasis....and lets not forget Nick Danger.
"Work" (The Blue Orchids) has begun on their second full length album which is sounding even better than the first. Some of the songs being considered: Northern Soul, The New Dawn, Taking The Long way Home, Shining Over You, Summer Anthem (some of you lucky fans have heard the demo version which was being considered for the first album and was included on the limited prerelease version), Ratrace (one of my old faves), Light & Shade, The La De Da Song, and then again - maybe not. Keep listening!
Nick Danger and the Safety Village Conformist
A mysterious name change you say? Not exactly, but the Nick Danger Empire may take on an alter ego too for future recordings, only time will tell. They worked on a last minute addition for the Television Personalities tribute bonus disc but due to intervention by the Village staff this was not meant to be. A very smashing rendition of "Anxiety Block" may now show up on Volume 3. http://www.myspace.com/dangercityrebels
As with any great rock band disfunctionality breeds genius! After a bit of a line up change Nick recruited Terry O'reilly (ex-Skytone drummer) to play on the final leg of his Canadian tour headlining Barnstorm 7, due to CHUNKK being under privation and suspicion yet eerily in the audience air-drumming along. Also joined by Sarah Medd on violin and Jeremy Palmer (The Mules) put together a stellar show recently with Eamonn Dowd of Ireland's "The Racketeers". There's a bootleg of that circulating on the web for those interested. And soon the vegetable man and an instrumental and Ed Ball likes Cincinnati and Going Down seems to be going up (in the charts at least). A limited run live DCR CD is being released on our "live" imaginary subsidiary label "Jumping Elephants". This is a free special order, if you would like a copy please send your address to danger@thebeautifulmusic.com.
Many More Projects On The Way
Sorry I have no time to elaborate but suffice to say we have many more projects and goodies in store for 2007 if we manage to locate the real world yet again, so keep in touch - "We Love You" (The Jazz Butcher covering the Stones - which by the way - The Jazz Butcher may even do a TVP cover for volume 3 - but more on that later).
Also quick plug for Angel Racing Food CD on Topplers, Jim Jasmine Ep on I Wish I Was Unpopular, Nikki Suddens last album on Secretly Canadian and the tribute to Squire and a new BMX Bandits Album out soon, A new Wild Swans 2CD collection and lots more.
Thank you for your patience and perseverance!
* - The band name in brackets is the band who recorded the song in quotation that precedes the name and refers to songs and bands that you certainly should run out and purchase if these are not already in your possesion. And since it was not mentioned above you should go out and purchase the Bodines new CDEP "Shrinkwrap" from Firestation Records – Pure Pop Bliss.
